If
Temu's promos are crowding your inbox, you probably want two things: the promos to stop, and the pile already in
Gmail gone. Temu's own settings can stop the promos, and Gmail can send the unsubscribe for you. Neither one clears what you've already received. Below is each route, with Temu's steps taken from its own help center and policies in October 2026.
Turn off marketing email in
Temu's Notifications settings#
Temu's help center answers this in an entry called How do I change the notification settings? (checked October 2026). There are two ways in:
- In the Temu app, go to You, then Settings, then Notifications, and select Edit to set your preferences.
- On temu.com, sign in, click your username in the top-right corner, click Notifications in the left sidebar, then click Edit.
The same help entry links straight to the preferences page at temu.com/bgp_preferences.html, which saves the clicking if you're already signed in on a computer.

The help entry doesn't name the individual switches on that page. Temu's privacy policy fills that in: under Your Rights and Choices, it says you can opt out of receiving marketing emails in the "Notifications" menu. The policy was last updated November 14, 2025, and we read it in October 2026.
Or use the unsubscribe link in a
Temu email#
If you'd rather not sign in, open any Temu marketing email and scroll to the bottom. Temu's privacy policy says you can "follow the unsubscribe options at the bottom of each email to stop receiving such emails," and section 5 of its Terms of Use (last updated November 7, 2025) says the same about its marketing email list.

Temu also markets by text and push notification, and the same section covers both. For texts, follow the instructions in the message or switch them off in the Notifications menu; the Terms of Use add that you can reply STOP to the number the texts come from, and that you don't have to agree to marketing texts to use Temu. For push, turn it off in your phone's notification settings or in the Notifications menu.
The policy also says you can keep using Temu after you opt out of marketing, so there's no catch to switching it all off.
What opting out doesn't stop#
Everything above is a marketing opt-out. Section 5.2 of
Temu's Terms of Use lists a separate set of messages Temu may send to the email address or phone number you gave it: notices about your orders, payment and delivery updates, one-time passcodes, and messages about your account. Those aren't marketing, and every opt-out above is written for marketing only.
On timing, neither Temu's privacy policy nor its Terms of Use says how long an opt-out takes to apply.
Google, for its part, requires anyone sending 5,000 or more messages a day to
Gmail to honor unsubscribe requests within two days, according to its sender guidelines. If promos are still coming after that, go back to the Notifications page and check that the change was saved.

Gmail's Unsubscribe and Manage subscriptions#
Gmail gives you two more ways to stop new
Temu mail without visiting Temu at all. Many marketing emails show an Unsubscribe link next to the sender's name at the top of the message. And Manage subscriptions (in the left menu under More on the web, or the top-left menu in the phone app) lists the senders that mail you most, with an Unsubscribe button for each.
Google's help page covers it, and our guide to unsubscribing in bulk in Gmail walks through it.
Both stop new mail, and neither one deletes anything. Every Temu email you already have stays in your inbox until you remove it yourself. For how Manage subscriptions stacks up against a tool that clears the backlog too, see
Gnuke vs Gmail's Manage subscriptions.
Clear every
Temu email already in
Gmail#
This is the part no unsubscribe link does. You can do it by hand: search Gmail for the Temu sender with from:, select every matching conversation, and delete them, as our guide to deleting all emails from one sender shows step by step.
Or do both jobs in one click.
Gnuke is a
Chrome extension that adds a bomb button to Gmail. Click it on a Temu email and Gnuke unsubscribes you in the best way the sender supports: the standard one-click request if it's there, otherwise an unsubscribe email from your own address, otherwise it opens the sender's unsubscribe page for you. In the same click, every email from that sender moves to Gmail's Trash.

With a store, you may want to hold on to a receipt or two. Starred mail always stays, so star the order confirmation you might need for a return before you click. You can also keep the sender's newest 1, 3 or 10 emails, mail in a label, or mail marked important. Undo brings everything back for 30 days, and Gnuke never deletes anything permanently. See how it works.
If Temu keeps mailing more than 3 days after you unsubscribed, Gnuke's "Still emailing you" list flags it and offers a one-click Block, a Gmail filter that sends future mail from that sender straight to Trash. For a bigger cleanup, Clean up ranks all your newsletter and promo senders so you can tick Temu alongside the rest and nuke them together. On your phone, the Gnuke phone app does the same thing straight to Gmail.
Gnuke works from your own browser or phone, and no Gnuke server sees your mail. Ten nukes a month are free; Unlimited is $29.99 a year or $4.99 a month (see pricing).
Which route to use#
If you still shop on
Temu, its Notifications settings are the most thorough fix, since the privacy policy points marketing email, texts and push all to that one menu. If you'd rather not sign in, the unsubscribe link or
Gmail's Manage subscriptions will stop new mail. None of them empties your inbox.
Gnuke stops the promos and clears every old Temu email in the same click.
Frequently asked questions
How do I stop Temu emails?
In the Temu app, go to You, then Settings, then Notifications, and select Edit. On temu.com, click your username at the top right, then Notifications in the left sidebar, then Edit. You can also use the unsubscribe option at the bottom of any Temu marketing email. Both routes come from Temu's help center and privacy policy, checked October 2026.
Why do I still get Temu emails after unsubscribing?
Temu's opt-outs cover marketing. Its Terms of Use list order, payment and delivery updates, one-time passcodes and messages about your account as a separate kind of message. Temu doesn't give a time frame for an opt-out in its privacy policy or terms. Google requires senders of 5,000 or more messages a day to Gmail to honor unsubscribe requests within two days.
How do I stop Temu text messages?
Reply STOP to the number the texts come from, as Temu's Terms of Use say, or follow the instructions in the message. Temu's privacy policy adds that you can also opt out of marketing texts in the Notifications menu.
How do I turn off Temu push notifications?
Temu's privacy policy says you can turn off marketing push notifications in your phone's notification settings or in the Notifications menu of the Temu app.
Does unsubscribing from Temu delete the emails I already have?
No. Opting out only stops future marketing mail. Every Temu email already in Gmail stays until you delete it. Gnuke unsubscribes you and moves every Temu email to Gmail's Trash in one click, with Undo for 30 days.
Can I still use Temu if I opt out of marketing?
Yes. Temu's privacy policy says you can continue to use Temu even if you opt out of marketing communications.
