# Gnuke vs Clean Email: one-click Gmail cleanup or a full inbox manager?

> Gnuke vs Clean Email compared on price, supported mailboxes, unsubscribing, undo and where your mail is processed, with sources and where Clean Email wins.

If your mail lives in more than one place, or you want rules that keep cleaning up after you, Clean Email is the stronger tool. If you use Gmail on a computer and want a sender unsubscribed and erased with a single click, Gnuke does that with no server in the middle.

## The short version

Clean Email is a full inbox manager. It groups your mail by sender, domain, subject, date or size and lets you trash, delete or archive in bulk, with extras like Auto Clean and Screener. Gnuke is narrower. It adds a bomb button to Gmail, and one click unsubscribes you and moves everything that sender ever sent you to Trash.

## The real differences

### One job versus a toolbox

Clean Email groups mail by sender, domain, subject, date or size, and lets you trash, delete or archive each group ([source](https://clean.email/how-to-delete-all-emails/delete-all-emails-from-one-sender)). Its Unsubscriber, Auto Clean and Screener are Premium features ([source](https://clean.email/llm-info)). That's a lot of surface, and if you like organizing your mailbox it's useful.

Gnuke does one thing. You see a sender in Gmail, click the bomb, and the sender is unsubscribed and gone. The Clean up view ranks senders by how many emails they sent, how often you open them, "Never opened" and "Quiet for 6+ months," so you can tick several and nuke them together. It also flags "Still emailing you" senders who keep mailing more than 3 days after you unsubscribed, with a one-click Block.

### Where your mail is processed

Clean Email runs on its own servers and indexes your mailbox. For Gmail, Yahoo, Microsoft and AOL accounts it connects without your password, but other IMAP providers need a login that Clean Email stores ([source](https://clean.email/help/basics/connecting-your-email-account)). Its help page says metadata is deleted 45 days after your last login or account removal.

![Diagram: with Gnuke, Gmail talks only to your own browser or phone, with no Gnuke server in between. With Clean Email, your mailbox is indexed by Clean Email's servers, where the cleanup runs, and metadata is deleted 45 days after your last login.](https://getgnuke.com/images/compare/gnuke-vs-clean-email/where-your-mail-goes.svg)
*Where the work happens with each one, based on each company's own help and privacy pages.*

Gnuke has no such server. It talks to Gmail straight from your browser or phone, so nobody at Gnuke can see your inbox. The one server in the system is a small reminder service for the optional weekly phone notification, and it keeps only a push address and the day and hour you picked. Details are in the [privacy policy](/privacy).

Neither is a hidden catch. Clean Email states its position plainly and has a 4.6 rating from 715 reviews on [Trustpilot](https://www.trustpilot.com/review/clean.email). It's a design choice, and it matters most if you'd rather your mail not live on someone else's machine.

### Undo and safety

Gnuke never deletes anything permanently. Everything lands in Gmail's Trash, and Undo puts it all back for 30 days. Starred mail always stays, and you can choose to keep labeled mail, important mail, and the sender's newest 1, 3 or 10 emails. Senders on your keep list are never offered for nuking.

## Where Clean Email is better

- It works with Outlook, Yahoo, iCloud, AOL, Fastmail and any IMAP provider. Gnuke only works with Gmail.
- It has native Mac, iPhone, iPad and Android apps, as well as the web.
- Auto Clean and Screener act on mail automatically. Gnuke's new mail checks only tell you when 25 or more new emails are worth nuking or a nuked sender is back, and you decide.
- You can organize by size or date, not only by sender.
- It offers a 14-day free trial and covers several accounts on one plan.

## Who should pick which

Pick Clean Email if you manage non-Gmail accounts, want automated rules, or want a full mailbox manager across all your devices, and you're fine with a cloud service indexing your mail.

Pick Gnuke if you're on Gmail, you want the fastest path from "I hate this sender" to "gone," and you want the work to stay on your own device. You can try it free: [how it works](/#how) and [pricing](/#pricing) show the details.
