# How to stop Groupon emails, one city or all of them

> Stop Groupon's daily deal emails in Email Preferences or with the unsubscribe link, see which emails keep coming, then clear the old Groupon mail out of Gmail.

The first line of Groupon's Terms of Use says that entering your email, signing in or accepting notifications means you agree to "receive personalized Groupon deals each day." Those deals are set per city, so if you ever added a second city for a trip, you may be getting two daily emails instead of one. Groupon's settings can stop the new ones, and Gmail can send the unsubscribe for you. Neither touches the deal emails already in your inbox. Here is each route, with Groupon's steps taken from its own help center and policies in October 2026.

## Change Groupon's Email Preferences, city by city

Groupon's help center covers this in an article called [Manage Email Subscriptions and Location Preferences](https://www.groupon.com/faq/account-basics-and-troubleshooting/manage-email-subscriptions-location-preferences) (checked October 2026). With an account:

1. Sign in and go to My Stuff, then Email Preferences.
2. Uncheck the emails for your city.
3. To stop everything at once, choose the "Opt out from all Groupon emails" option on the same page.

The help article gives one path for this, without separate steps for the website and the app. My Stuff is also where Groupon's [getting-started guide](https://www.groupon.com/faq/getting-started-with-groupon/how-to-use-groupon-guide) sends you to open your vouchers.

Watch the cities. The same article explains that the daily deal emails, which Groupon calls Deals Near You, are chosen city by city: Email Preferences, then Deals Near You, then Add Another City. If you added a city once for a trip or a move, it's still a subscription of its own. Uncheck each one you don't want, or use the opt-out for all of them.

## Or use the unsubscribe link in a Groupon email

You don't need to sign in. Groupon's help article lists the link in its emails as one of the two ways to unsubscribe, and section 8 (Your Choices) of Groupon's [privacy notice](https://privacy.groupon.com/policies?name=privacy-policy) (effective May 21, 2026) says the same: you can stop commercial emails "by following the instructions contained in any of the commercial e-mails we send or by logging into your account and adjusting your email preferences."

The help center also has a line for people without a Groupon account: they manage subscriptions by entering their email on the sign-up page.

## What keeps arriving after you unsubscribe from Groupon

Everything above covers commercial email. The same Your Choices section of the privacy notice adds that even after you unsubscribe, Groupon "may still email you non-commercial emails related to your account and your transactions on the Service." So mail about something you bought, or about your account, is outside the opt-out.

![Section 8, Your Choices, of Groupon's privacy notice, saying commercial emails can be stopped through the instructions in any commercial email or the email preferences in your account, and that non-commercial emails about your account and transactions may still be sent](https://getgnuke.com/images/articles/unsubscribe-from-groupon-emails/groupon-privacy-your-choices.webp)

Texts have their own switch. Section 17 of Groupon's [Terms of Use](https://www.groupon.com/legal/termsofservice) (last updated April 17, 2026) says you can text STOP to opt out of Groupon's text messages at any time, and that agreeing to texts isn't a condition of buying anything. Offers that Groupon's business partners send you directly are separate too: the privacy notice says to use the opt-out instructions in the partner's own emails.

How long does it take? Groupon's help article answers that one: changes "may take 1-2 days to reflect." So a deal email that turns up the morning after you opt out is normal. If they're still coming after a few days, go back to Email Preferences and make sure no city is still ticked.

Shop on Amazon too? See [how to unsubscribe from Amazon emails](/articles/unsubscribe-from-amazon-emails), or [Temu's](/articles/unsubscribe-from-temu-emails) if that's the other deal app filling your inbox.

## Gmail's Unsubscribe and Manage subscriptions

Gmail gives you two more ways to stop new Groupon mail without visiting Groupon. Many marketing emails show an Unsubscribe link next to the sender's name at the top of the message. And Manage subscriptions (in the left menu under More on the web, or the top-left menu in the phone app) lists the senders that mail you most, with an Unsubscribe button for each. Google's [help page](https://support.google.com/mail/answer/15621070) covers it, and our guide to [unsubscribing in bulk in Gmail](/articles/unsubscribe-in-bulk-gmail) walks through it.

Both stop new mail, and neither one deletes anything. Every Groupon email you already have stays in your inbox until you remove it yourself. For how Manage subscriptions compares with a tool that clears the backlog too, see [Gnuke vs Gmail's Manage subscriptions](/compare/gnuke-vs-gmail-manage-subscriptions).

## Clear every Groupon email already in Gmail

No unsubscribe link touches the old mail. You can clear it by hand: search Gmail for the Groupon sender with `from:`, select every matching conversation, and delete them, as our guide to [deleting all emails from one sender](/articles/delete-all-emails-from-one-sender-gmail) shows step by step.

Or do both jobs in one click. Gnuke is a Chrome extension that adds a bomb button to Gmail. Click it on a Groupon email and Gnuke unsubscribes you in the best way the sender supports: the standard one-click request if it's there, otherwise an unsubscribe email from your own address, otherwise it opens the sender's unsubscribe page for you. In the same click, every email from that sender moves to Gmail's Trash.

![Gnuke's receipt for one click on Deal Drop: unsubscribe done, 412 past emails to Trash, starred mail kept, Undo for 30 days, and Block for senders still emailing you](https://getgnuke.com/images/articles/delete-all-emails-from-one-sender-gmail/gnuke-one-click-receipt.webp)
*What one click does, as Gnuke's homepage lays it out.*

With a deals site, there's often one email you still want, like the receipt for a deal you haven't used yet. Starred mail always stays, so star it before you click. You can also keep the sender's newest 1, 3 or 10 emails, mail in a label, or mail marked important. Undo brings everything back for 30 days, and Gnuke never deletes anything permanently. See [how it works](/#how).

**Clear a sender's whole history in one click** Gnuke opens to everyone soon: [get one email the day it does](https://getgnuke.com/#get).

If Groupon keeps mailing more than 3 days after you unsubscribed, Gnuke's "Still emailing you" list flags it and offers a one-click Block, a Gmail filter that sends future mail from that sender straight to Trash. For a bigger cleanup, [Clean up](/#cleanup) ranks all your newsletter and promo senders so you can tick Groupon alongside the rest and nuke them together. On your phone, the [Gnuke phone app](/phone) does the same thing straight to Gmail.

Gnuke works from your own browser or phone, and [no Gnuke server sees your mail](/privacy). Ten nukes a month are free; Unlimited is $29.99 a year or $4.99 a month (see [pricing](/#pricing)).

## Which Groupon opt-out should you use?

If you still buy deals, open Email Preferences and uncheck only the cities you don't want; that keeps the one feed you use. If you're done with Groupon's deal emails entirely, "Opt out from all Groupon emails" or the link in any email will do it within a day or two, and Gmail's Manage subscriptions works too. None of them empties your inbox. Gnuke stops the deal emails and clears every old Groupon email in the same click.

## Frequently asked questions

### How do I stop Groupon emails?

Sign in to Groupon, go to My Stuff, then Email Preferences, and either uncheck the emails for your city or choose Opt out from all Groupon emails. You can also use the unsubscribe link in any Groupon email. Both routes come from Groupon's help center, checked October 2026.

### Why do I get Groupon deal emails for more than one city?

Groupon sends daily deals per city. Its help center says you pick those cities under Email Preferences, then Deals Near You, where Add Another City puts a new one on the list. Uncheck every city you don't want, or opt out from all Groupon emails to stop them all at once.

### How long does it take for Groupon emails to stop?

Groupon's help center says changes to your email subscriptions may take 1-2 days to show, so a deal email or two can still arrive the day after you opt out.

### Will I still get emails about my Groupon purchases?

Yes. Groupon's privacy notice says that even after you unsubscribe from commercial email, it may still send non-commercial emails related to your account and your transactions.

### How do I stop Groupon text messages?

Text STOP to opt out of Groupon's text messages at any time, as section 17 of Groupon's Terms of Use says. The same section says agreeing to texts is not a condition of buying anything.

### Does unsubscribing from Groupon delete the emails I already have?

No. Opting out only stops future marketing mail. Every Groupon email already in Gmail stays until you delete it. Gnuke unsubscribes you and moves every Groupon email to Gmail's Trash in one click, with Undo for 30 days.
